SERVICE UNITS
To complement the administration of the academic programme, there are service units established for general administration. These are:
I.Registry
The unit is responsible to the Registrar for the day to day running of the school.
II.Bursary
The unit is responsible to the Registrar for the financial administration of the school.
III.Library
The unit takes charge of the administration of the Library.
Others: Other service units are ICT Office, Exams and Records,
ACADEMIC CALENDAR
Each academic session is made up of two semesters and each semester is usually made up of between 15 and 17 weeks (inclusive of examination period and other non-academic activities). Academic calendars are structured to avoid any spillover from one year to another
REGISTRATION
- Students must register promptly for their course and examinations every semester as directed and scheduled by the school.
Failure to do so shall result in their being barred from classes and from school examinations.
- At the time of registration, students may also be required to register and pay towards their professional associations.
- Students, at the beginning of their programme of study, must register with the names they intend to use throughout the
duration of their programme. The School does not allow any change of name in the middle of the programme except where such a change is brought about by marriage. All such names must be correctly spelt and written in proper sequence. The school will not be responsible for any error arising either from spelling or sequence of names of students.
- Registration after third week will be regarded as late registration. Late registration on special consideration will attract penalty
including a surcharge as specified by the school authority through the Registry.
DEFERMENT OF ADMISSION
Students who intend to defer should apply to the Principal, for deferment of their admission, but such students must have paid the appropriate fees and duly registered for the session.
ATTENDANCE
The School operates a continuous assessment and end-of-semester examination system. To this end:
- An overall attendance of not less than 75% is required for each course. Students who fail to satisfy this requirement may not be
allowed to take the semester examinations.
- Any student who is late for a lecture may be marked absent and may also be refused entry into the class, depending on the
lecturer’s discretion.
- Absence from any part of the course examination must be supported by a document or certified medical report in case of illness.
ELIGIBILITY FOR THE AWARD OF DIPLOMA
To be eligible for promotion from one class to the next or for award of a Diploma, a student must score an aggregate of at least 40% in each course.
SPORTS
Sporting activities are allowed in the School. There are also varieties of in-door games like Table tennis, Ludo, Draft, Scrabble, e.t.c. Soccer is a very popular game, and it is also played in the School.
EXAMINATION AND EXAMINATION MISCONDUCT
Examinations constitute a very important aspect of the School function; students are therefore advised in their own interest to abide by all the School Rules and Regulations pertaining to examinations. The School takes a very serious view of any form of misconduct. The penalty for cheating in an examination and examination misconduct in general could lead to dismissal from the school.
CERTIFICATE FORGERY
- Students are expected to make the originals of their credentials available for verification during registration periods of every
session or at any other time as the School may require.
- Any student who gains admission into the School with forged certificates or credentials does so at his/her own peril. Any
student found to have done so, at any stage of the programme stands to be dismissed from the school.
- Any student found not to have met the School advertised entry requirements at the time of the admission may have
his/her admission withdrawn.
STUDENTS WITH ACADEMIC PROBLEM
The School has course tutors / co-coordinator or class advisers to whom academic or other problems should, in the first instance, directed. Such problems may also be directed to the Principal /Registrar as the case may be.
DISRUPTION OF CLASSES
Under no circumstances should a student disrupt a class in progress. Serious disciplinary action will be taken against any student who contravenes this regulation.
STUDENTS’ DEMONSTRATION
There should be atleast 48 hours notice, in writing, to the Principal for any students’ demonstration. It should be noted that violent
demonstrations are strictly forbidden. Violation of this regulation will attract serious penalties, which may include expulsion.
HOSTEL ACCOMMODATION
The school provides a comfortable and secured hostel accommodation for a limited number of students. However, any student, who, having appeared before the students disciplinary committee and found guilty and given a letter of warning and or suspension, forfeits all entitlement to hostel accommodation. GENERAL COMPORTMENT
Students of the School are generally expected to comport themselves as responsible members of the Society. Any student caught engaging in any form of verbal /combat shall be disciplined.
